Teaching and research careers in India span school classrooms, college lecture halls and research labs. School teaching needs a teacher-education qualification and a Teacher Eligibility Test (TET/CTET); college and university roles need a master's degree with UGC NET or CSIR NET, and increasingly a PhD.
