West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination
WBJEE is the West Bengal state entrance test conducted annually by the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board (WBJEEB) for admission to undergraduate engineering and technology, pharmacy and architecture courses at universities and institutes in West Bengal. It is a pen-and-paper (OMR) test of two papers — Paper I (Mathematics) and Paper II (Physics and Chemistry) — with multiple-choice questions in three categories, some with negative marking. Candidates who take both papers receive a General Merit Rank, used for engineering, technology and architecture (and pharmacy at Jadavpur University), and a Pharmacy Merit Rank; candidates who take only Paper II are ranked for pharmacy only. Seats are allotted through WBJEEB's online counselling. Pattern, fees and dates are set in each year's information bulletin.

Score range
Paper I: Mathematics, 75 questions, 100 marks. Paper II: Physics and Chemistry, 40 questions and 50 marks each. Single-correct questions carry negative marking (−¼ on 1-mark and −½ on 2-mark questions); multiple-correct 2-mark questions carry none.
Eligibility
Citizen of India, or OCI (OCI candidates are eligible only for unreserved All-India-quota seats). Must have passed Class 12 (10+2) or equivalent before 2026 or be appearing in 2026, and be at least 17 on 31 December 2026; there is no upper age limit except 25 for degree-level marine engineering. Engineering admission follows AICTE's subject rules, with at least 45% in the three qualifying subjects (40% for SC, ST, OBC-A, OBC-B and PwD) and at least 30% in English. West Bengal domicile is required for, among others, seats in government-aided colleges, reserved-category seats and 90% of Jadavpur University's general seats.
