NEET UG
National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (Undergraduate)
NEET (UG) is the single uniform entrance test, required by law, for admission to MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BUMS, BSMS and BHMS courses at all medical institutions in India, including AIIMS and JIPMER; its results are also used for B.Sc. (Hons) Nursing and for veterinary (BVSc & AH) seats under the VCI's 15% quota. Indian citizens and OCI cardholders who intend to study undergraduate medicine or dentistry abroad must also qualify in it. It is a three-hour pen-and-paper test in a single shift: 180 multiple-choice questions (Physics 45, Chemistry 45, Biology 90) for 720 marks, in 13 languages. The NTA publishes ranks; the MCC counsels for MBBS and BDS seats in the All India quota, AIIMS, JIPMER and central and deemed universities, AACCC for the AYUSH All India quota, and state authorities for state-quota seats.

Eligibility
At least 17 years old on or before 31 December of the exam year; no upper age limit. Class 12 (or equivalent) with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology and English — candidates still sitting Class 12 may take the test but must pass before the first counselling round. To be eligible for admission, a candidate must score at or above the 50th percentile (40th for SC, ST and OBC; 45th for general and Gen-EWS candidates with benchmark disabilities, 40th for SC/ST/OBC candidates with benchmark disabilities).
