IIT JAM
Joint Admission Test for Masters
JAM is the computer-based entrance test for postgraduate science programmes at the IITs: M.Sc., M.Sc. (Tech.), MS (Research), M.Sc.–M.Tech. dual degree, Joint M.Sc.–Ph.D., M.Sc.–Ph.D. dual degree and Integrated Ph.D. It has seven test papers — Biotechnology, Chemistry, Economics, Geology, Mathematics, Mathematical Statistics and Physics — and a candidate may take one or two. The organising institute coordinates admission to the IITs on the basis of All India Rank in each paper; result-sharing institutes such as IISc, the NITs, IIEST Shibpur and IISER Pune and Bhopal also use JAM scores, and candidates apply to them directly or through the Centralized Counselling for M.Sc./M.Sc. (Tech) Admission (CCMN). JAM 2027 test centres are in India only.

100 marks, 60 questions (JAM 2027): Section A — 30 multiple-choice questions, with 1/3 mark deducted for a wrong 1-mark answer and 2/3 mark for a wrong 2-mark answer; Section B — 10 multiple-select questions; Section C — 20 numerical-answer questions; Sections B and C have no negative marking
Eligibility
An undergraduate degree completed, or the final examination of the qualifying degree in 2027 (JAM 2027); open to all nationalities, with no age limit. The degree must be completed before admission, and each programme sets its own minimum educational qualifications in the brochure.

Registration fee
JAM 2027: ₹2,000 for one test paper or ₹2,700 for two; ₹1,000 or ₹1,350 for female, SC, ST and PwD candidates (non-refundable; bank or payment-gateway charges extra)
