What 'private universities' in Singapore actually are

Institutions such as SIM (Singapore Institute of Management), PSB Academy, Kaplan and James Cook University (JCU) Singapore are Private Education Institutions (PEIs), not autonomous universities. Many deliver degrees awarded by partner universities overseas, while some, like JCU Singapore, are branch campuses of a foreign university.
