There is no single "best" course to study in Singapore — the right choice depends on your interests, career goals, the entry requirements you can meet and your budget. Singapore's universities are strong across many fields, so focus on fit rather than a ranking headline.

Subject strengths are often summarised in rankings published by bodies such as QS and THE. Treat these as one input, attributed to the body that issued them, and always check the current edition on the ranking organisation's own site.

Below are fields Singapore is frequently associated with. Confirm programme details, entry requirements and fees on each university's official pages before you decide.

Business, accountancy and finance

Business, accountancy, economics and finance are among the most popular fields, offered by NUS, NTU and SMU and by specialised schools within them. Programmes often combine analytical training with internships and exposure to Singapore's role as a regional business hub.

Entry is competitive and requirements vary by programme and fee status. Check the specific prerequisites, curriculum and any interview or additional requirements on the official school pages, and compare the options rather than assuming they are alike.

Computing, AI and data science

Computer science, artificial intelligence, data science and information systems are in strong demand, with dedicated schools and research centres at the main universities. Curricula typically cover programming, algorithms and machine learning, and increasingly AI applications and ethics.

Some programmes offer specialisations or industry placements. Verify the exact tracks, entry requirements and any maths or coding prerequisites on the official programme pages before applying.

Engineering and the sciences
