Higher education in Armenia

Armenia, with its capital Yerevan, hosts public and private universities that admit international students across bachelor's, master's, and longer professional programmes. Depending on the institution and course, teaching may be in Armenian, Russian, or English.

This guide is a general orientation. Programmes, eligibility, fees, intakes, and required documents are set by each university and the relevant authorities and change over time — confirm the current details on the official university website before you apply.

Medical universities (study route only)

Armenia is among the destinations international students consider for medical (MBBS-equivalent) study. Yerevan State Medical University, located in Yerevan, is one such institution; its official site indicates it enrols international students and runs an admissions section for foreign citizens.

India-side rules for medical study

For Indian students, studying medicine abroad does not change the requirements set in India. NEET is mandatory, the National Medical Commission (NMC) sets eligibility and guidelines, and a foreign medical graduate must clear the prescribed screening examination and complete the required internship to register with a State Medical Council in India.

These rules are detailed and can change, so defer entirely to the official NMC, NEET, and screening-examination sources for the current requirements before committing to any overseas medical programme.

How admission generally works

For non-medical and medical programmes alike, international applicants are usually assessed on their school or degree qualifications and, for English-medium programmes, English-proficiency evidence. Where a language requirement is not yet met, a preparatory route is common.

Each university sets its own criteria, application steps, intake calendar, and fees, reviewed each cycle. Rely on the official admissions page of the specific university you are interested in.

Visa, registration and verifying details

International students normally need the appropriate entry permission and may have to complete local registration after arrival, with the host university typically providing supporting documents.
