The University of Helsinki is a public research university in Helsinki, founded in 1640. The university states that it has 11 faculties on four campuses in Helsinki, and that it offers master’s programmes taught in English and bachelor’s programmes taught in English. QS World University Rankings 2027 places it joint 123rd. Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2027 places it joint 118th. Its tuition page states that fees for master’s programmes in English are 13,000, 15,000 or 18,000 EUR per academic year, depending on the programme, and that the fee for English-language bachelor’s programmes is 13,000 EUR per academic year. Joint programmes may differ. Doctoral students and exchange students are not charged that fee. The same page states a first-year tuition payment deadline of 31 August 2026. The Master’s Programme in English Studies page states a fee of 13,000 EUR per year for non-EU/EEA citizens and an application period of 5 to 19 January 2027 for studies starting in autumn 2027. Other programmes set their own dates. A university news item on the autumn 2026 international master’s round stated 3,739 applicants and that 44% were offered a place. That rate is for that round only.
