NTU Singapore: research built around engineering, business and science

Nanyang Technological University (NTU Singapore) is a young, research-intensive university on the Yunnan Garden campus in western Singapore. International students apply directly through NTU’s own online admissions system.

NTU is especially known for its large College of Engineering and Nanyang Business School, alongside science, the humanities, medicine and teacher education. Requirements and prerequisites depend on the school and programme you choose, so read your specific programme page on the official NTU site.

NTU's colleges and distinctive schools

NTU is organised into colleges and autonomous schools. Two make it distinctive among Singapore universities: the National Institute of Education (NIE), Singapore’s teacher-education institute, and the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine, run in partnership with Imperial College London. Selective interdisciplinary programmes such as the Renaissance Engineering Programme and the CN Yang Scholars Programme have their own admissions.

Entry requirements and English proficiency

NTU’s undergraduate admissions pages list the international qualifications it considers and the subject prerequisites and indicative standards for each programme. Because teaching is in English, international applicants generally provide English-proficiency evidence such as IELTS or TOEFL unless their prior education was English-medium.

Application timeline and documents

NTU opens undergraduate applications on a published annual schedule. You complete one online application, select your programme choices, and upload transcripts, your English test and any programme-specific documents before the deadline.

Some programmes — for example the Renaissance Engineering Programme or medicine — include interviews or additional assessment, so start early. Dates change each cycle; verify on the official NTU admissions calendar.

Fees, the MOE Tuition Grant and the Student's Pass

NTU publishes tuition by programme and citizenship. As at other Singapore universities, international students may apply for the Singapore Ministry of Education (MOE) Tuition Grant, which subsidises fees in return for a post-study work bond, and must obtain a Student’s Pass from Singapore’s Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) before studying.
